…French Lovecraftian interactive fiction!
English speaking Gamebook Adventures fans are probably not aware that over the last year we’ve slowly been converting many titles of our titles into French. We have already released L’Assassin d’Orlandes, Le Siège de Nécromant and Le Temple du Dieu Araignée on to the App Store and plan on releasing the rest in French in the near future. The awesome team responsible for the French translations are Studio 09, headed up by Romuald Finet, who have released a number of tabletop RPGs in France. Romuald first contacted us at the beginning of 2011 and after some negotiations we contracted them to do all of our translation work. As part of the deal we agreed to digitally publish some of their own CYOA style gamebooks using our engine. Over many discussions and the continual evolution of our own brand, we have decided to create a new line of releases next year called Gamebook Adventures Choices, of which Studio 09 will play an important role. GAC will mostly be interactive path-choosing books that contain less of the dice-rolling RPG mechanics of our other titles. Our first release by Studio 09 will be Les Fils d’Uruzimé (Sons of Urizime)!
It’s December 1929 and America is going through the worst financial crisis in history. You are a young Miskatonic University professor more interested in classical studies than the depression around you and attempting to share your knowledge with students from the high society of Arkham.
One of your your students, Philipp Lewis, fails to attend your classes. He’s a reflection of you, a loner, who finds an escape from life through the dreams and romance of his studies. This makes his disappearance all the more disturbing as your course was an opportunity for him to engage and share whilst also getting away from his powerful, yet disapproving family.
How will you react? What is the strange letter that arrived this morning? Is his disappearance hiding something much more worrying? How do selected members of Arkham high society get so powerful? Is the truth worth your life or your sanity? It’s up to you to decide!
Les Fils d’Uruzimé will be coming to iOS and Android in early 2013 as a French only app. English speakers do not fear as we already have a translation team working on the English version, which should arrive later in the year! Studio 09 are also already in full development on two more follow-up GAC titles. The first is called La Drange ’65, set during the Vietnam War, and the second is a 1930s pulp adventure story! We will have more GAC announcements next year as new authors and collaborators join in the fun.
